Off-Campus Student Services (OCSS) supports students in their transitions to living off-campus. This office's goal is to ensure student needs are met and they remain connected to the University while living off-campus. This includes support in finding housing, social and educational programs in off-campus spaces, volunteer trash clean-ups, and more. OCSS strives to provide resources that meet the needs of all student groups, such as graduate, international, and commuter students. Examples of programming include efforts surrounding being a good neighbor, collection and redistribution of furniture around move-out, and Tenant Townhalls to educate students on renter's rights.

Job Summary

Assists in the organization and development of student activities and coordination of special events. Advises student organizations and students on programs and services. Attends student-sponsored social events, monitors organizations' financials and performs reconciliations, and ensures compliance with all University policies. Publicizes student events, assists in developing promotional materials, and registers and monitors new student organizations and requests.

Essential Functions 

The Coordinator of Graduate and Commuter Student Programs will develop and execute events encompassing social and educational topics that support the needs of students moving or living off-campus.

Essential duties will include:

  • Collaborating with other departments within and outside of Student Affairs, such as the Office of International Studies, New Student Programs, and Graduate and Professional Studies.
    • Provide support for specific student populations, such as new students, international students, and graduate students to meet their unique housing needs.
  • Assist in planning events run by Off-Campus Student Services such as the Be a Good Neighbor Tenant Townhalls and move-out furniture collection.
  • Plan and lead frequent webinars about housing and resources off-campus
  • Support student employees (Oakland Community Ambassadors) in planning events that connect students to their surrounding community.
  • Develop resources and services for commuter students to ensure they feel connected to the Pitt community
  • Activate the commuter lounge as a useful and welcoming space for commuter students
  • Supervise one graduate student employee whose role is outreach and support for commuter students

Primarily sedentary, with light physical activity required during events and other programs.
