Job Purpose: We have identified an unmet need in liver health and education in the
Hispanic/Latino community. This community is highly affected by liver disease, specifically
fatty liver disease. Nearly half 48% of Hispanics who live in the United States have a
fatty liver. We have developed numerous tools and resources in Spanish, including a
Spanish-language website and we are now at the point where we need a member on our
team who can directly communicate with the community.


Job Responsibilities:

  • Engage with the Hispanic/Latino community in Pittsburgh, and possibly beyond
    when the opportunity exists. Develop strong relationships within the community and
    build trust on behalf of our organization.
    Identify opportunities for collaboration through participation in events, providing
    presentations and more.
  • Help us understand the needs of the community through surveys, focus groups and
    one-on-one discussions as it relates to liver health education, including gaps and
    disparities of health that we can potentially address through partnerships with
    other organizations to provide liver-healthy food, free liver scans, and more.
  • Identify opportunities and present to Hispanic and Latino Employee Resource
    Groups.
  • Develop a model in Pittsburgh that can be replicated in other parts of the country
    for liver health awareness and education in the Hispanic/Latino community.
  • Assist with translations for materials, review website to ensure it is culturally relevant and more.
  • Serve as the “face” of the organization within the Hispanic/Latino Community
  • Translate and develop social media content relevant to the community.
  • Assist with Spanish language Liver Disease Support Group where needed,
    especially with driving higher meeting attendance.

Qualifications

  • General knowledge and skill in Microsoft word, powerpoint, Google drive and
    Google forms
  • Self-starter, highly motivated, outgoing personality
  • Bilingual (Spanish & English)
  • Not required, but medical knowledge or background is a plus

Other Items to Note

  • This is a remote position, but monthly in-person meetings with Executive Director
    required, as well as weekly Zoom touch bases
  • Schedule will vary week-to-week dependent on events, presentations, etc.
  • Some evenings and weekends will be required, again dependent on events,
    presentations
  • Ideally would work 24 hours per week and will be required to turn in a weekly
    timesheet as discussed in the onboarding process
